Bloomsburg Downs Millersville in Lacrosse

MILLERSVILLE - Sophomore Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) scored three goals to lead the Bloomsburg University lacrosse team to its first win of the season, a 10-9 victory over Millersville University Thursday afternoon.

The Huskies fell behind 2-0 in the first nine minutes of the game, but rallied over the next 17 minutes by scoring seven of the game's next eight goals to go in front 7-3 with 4:53 left in first half. After Millersville scored with under a minute to play to make it 7-4, the Huskies notched a goal with 16 seconds to play in the opening half to lead 8-4 at the break.

In the second half, the team's evenly shared the next four goals to put the Huskies in front 10-6 with 17:36 to play in the game. Bloomsburg then saw the Marauders score the next three goals to close to within 10-9 with 2:05 to play in the game. Then, in the final 10 seconds, Millersville missed on two shots as the Huskies held on for the win.

Along with Toms, Megan Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) scored twice, while Danielle Gordon (Delran, NJ/Delran), Brittany Luchessi (Ambler/Wissahickson), Sam Alexander (Willow Grove) and Brittany Wilkins (Barto/Boyertown) and Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) each scored once. Goalie Justine Coleman (Media/Penncrest) stopped 11 shots for the Huskies.
